OK, well…

With a few tricks, I was able to add my Facebook posts to this blog, but due to my privacy settings on there, you couldn’t view photos or video or comments, and the formatting was dumb, with the post title comprised of the same text as the post itself.

Back to the drawing board…

Hello?

Let me dust off the cobwebs and break out the broom.  Tinkering to see if I can feed Facebook updates into blog posts here.  No guarantees…does anyone still look here?  Please comment if you do!

San Diego pictures

Woo hoo!  Marc got some photos posted in a timely manner!  We hit San Diego for a few days recently, the zoo, a few beach visits (not hot enough to bask or swim, just play), and a couple breweries for Dada were among the highlights.  As per my previous post, no captions anymore, so if there’ s something you’re curious about, just ask!   You’ll find pictures in a new album in the gallery.

Next big adventure chez Tiar…the chickens are in the coop.

A few new pics

Finally got around to clearing off the camera, added the cream of the crop to the Lola album, the Sid album, and a new album!  Since I was having a hard time trying to figure out in which album to put pics where both kids figure prominently, I created a new album called “Both our kids” for those kinds of shots.  I’m not going back through old ones to move previously-filed-under-one-kid-or-the-other-when-it-had-both-kids-in-it pics into the new album, but still.

And, in an effort to do this more often, I’m giving up on my lame captions.  Pictures are worth 1000 words already, you don’t need my dumb commentary.

Ran out of time today, but I’ve got a bunch of videos to post as well, hopefully tomorrow.  Also in an effort to streamline things, for starters, to get caught up, I’m just going to mash them all together in one big stream of consciousness kidfest.  It’s been so long since I’ve done this routinely, I can’t even remember all the steps and processes I used to go through, so I’ll probably be looking for more effortless ways to post video as well.  We’ll see what happens.

wow

Three months plus since we last posted here.  We’re still here, still living our little lives.  Still struggling, loving, fighting, and having fun.  Mostly have moved a lot of commentary onto Facebook.  I’d still like to keep this site viable.  Stay tuned, maybe I’ll get back into the swing of things soon…

Snow Day in Reno

It has been snowing since yesterday. They say we have had about a foot. Libraries are closed, but Marc braved the roads to open the store. We’ll see how long that lasts.

We bundled up the kids to play while Marc shoveled the driveway. We didn’t last long, but it was fun. It is bringing back memories of early 2005.

New pictures, finally!

Finally committed to posting some new kids.  So embarrassed, some of these date back to May!  I’m overwhelmed by the videos I have to post, so those will wait until another good chunk of time, hopefully in the next week.  For now:

New Lola pictures

New Sidney pictures

A few miscellaneous pictures

I’m not as thorough as I used to be, posting every cute picture we’ve got, creating a new album for every little event in our lives.  Just don’t have the time.  So you’re seeing the cream of the crop, the tip of the iceberg, whatever you want to call it.

Otherwise, pretty much the same old story for us – busy with kids, EcoReno, etc.  Nana has been visiting for a bit, but her time here is drawing to a close and it will be back to the usual day to day activities.

Until next time…

Ugh

Feeling just a bit overwhelmed right now…I tend to in general anyway, just trying to keep straight all the “stuff” in our lives: work and various obligations and deadlines there, the store and the various demands it places on us, kids and their various needs, and all the peripheral stuff like bills to pay, chores and yardwork around the house, etc.   But right now, something very specific is making me panic.

I got this harebrained idea that for EcoReno’s first anniversary/grand opening party, I would do a workshop on building your own solar oven.  I’ve always wanted to, didn’t seem too hard, and seemed like a good little “event” to have at the shop.  And now, after weeks of trying to secure the perfect sized boxes, accumulating other required items, and scrutinizing various plans, I’ve reached the conclusion that I’m totally screwed.  It’s way too complicated, I don’t have the right size pieces of cardboard, and I’m in over my head.  I really don’t want to be a quitter on this, but I just don’t see how I can do it.  I have no idea if anyone will even show up, if it’ll be just one person or a dozen, or what.  Failure.

As long as I’m here, a brief update on the assorted other stuff in our lives.  Sid is recuperating well from his little surgery recently.  Details a bit too personal to go into here, but all seems well in his recovery.  Lola’s down to two days per week at Noah’s Ark, and her time at EcoReno with Morgan seems to be good for all involved.  I was lucky enough to have pizza lunch with her at school yesterday!  And then dinner at the Santa Fe for Paige’s birthday.  Overall, everyone is doing OK, a bit of a common cold making the rounds at our house, Nana coming to visit next week, and, as always, lots of being busy all the time.

Someday, I will get some new pictures loaded here.  Really.

long overdue….

Basically, life is busy.  We are caught up in being parents, business owners, home owners and our own selves. We are missing out on a few things: vacations, time to blog, sleeping in, and those days where you wake up and can’t decide what to do. I would kill for one of those!

Parents: the kids are getting so big! Sid turned two in July and is a talking machine. It is a great age where you can actually start communicating better with your child as they start to use words and can better express their emotions. Sid likes to jump up and down really hard and throw himself onto the floor – when he gets upset for you doing such parental duties such as keeping him away from a hot stove, taking away the scissors, scolding him for taking a gulp of your wine.  You know, those parental duties. He finally got his first haircut too. Not too much and I am told by a certain someone that he still looks like a girl. The comments have cut down a  bit about ‘her.’ Lola is going to turn 5 soon. Sometimes I think she is trapped in the body of a twenty year old. She knows it all! I promise, because she tells me all the time.  She doesn’t start kindergarten until next year, but she can’t stop writing or spelling. We S-P-E-L-L everything!  She still loves to dress up  and wear everyone else’s shoes.  I think some of it is rubbing off on Sid.

Business Owners: We just moved EcoReno into a bigger, more visible location. It has been great! We are able to get a few more lines and some different things in. Overall, things are continuing to be good and keeping us very busy!

Home Owners: Nothing new around that actual Tiar house. Well, a new car. We sold the Eurovan and bought a minivan. It has been a little adjusting and despite my hesitation, I really like it. It will be very handy with company in town or any additional passenger as anythign else will lend no room with the two car seats.

Me:  Busy.  Really.  I like it though and all for a good reason.  Just hope that it all pays off.
